The University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) was established in 2019 following a mass mobilization of students who organized against alleged corruption and mismanagement in the old student union, the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO). A student referendum replaced the SFUO with the UOSU, a student government equivalent of a revolution. Following this revolution, the UOSU has made a dedicated effort to not replicate the alleged wrongdoing of its predecessor organization. While it has made great strides in terms of governance and service provision, it faces challenges encouraging student participation in its activities.Â
